OverviewHedgerWay are partnering with a leading construction/engineering firm to assist in hiring a Financial Controller with offices based centrally in Manchester. This is a leadership role where you’ll oversee a team, provide technical expertise, and work closely with key stakeholders including lenders, shareholders and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a small finance team, ensuring project deadlines and KPIs are met.

Oversee management and statutory accounts, with responsibility for improving processes and controls.

Provide technical guidance on complex areas such as refinancing, accounting treatments, and new project accounting.

Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and review financial models to support decision-making.

Act as the main finance representative at project board meetings, advising on technical and commercial issues.

Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, auditors, and tax partners.

Support wider business activities including company secretarial responsibilities, lifecycle issues, and disputes.

Candidate Profile

Strong background in construction/engineering/project accounting

Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.

Analytical mindset with the confidence to both challenge and support decision-making.

Proactive approach, with experience implementing process improvements.
