Main duties of the job
The post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, video consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. They will make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation or external organisations. They will assess the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, contribute to QOF, Enhanced Services and IIF requirements, and record data appropriately. They will develop care plans in consultation with patients, screen for health education, admit and discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer as appropriate, keep clear and contemporaneous notes, collect data for audits, and issue computer-generated prescriptions.They will prescribe in line with the prescribing formulary, and take a lead role in governance, QOF, enhanced services, CPD and maintaining clinical protocols. They will work within relevant professional guidelines and regulatory standards and contribute to the team’s approach to referrals and service development.

Job description / Responsibilities
ARRS Scheme Salaried General PractitionerKey Clinical Responsibilities:The post-holder will practice in accordance with accepted good medical practice and the clinical policies of the Service, including a variety of duties such as surgery consultations, telephone and video consultations, visiting patients at home, signing repeat prescriptions and handling queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. They will make professional, autonomous decisions and assess the health needs of patients with undifferentiated problems. They will also contribute to quality and safety processes, including data recording for audit and adherence to prescribing standards.They will develop care plans for health-related illnesses, screen for health education, manage admissions and discharges, and ensure accurate documentation. They will work to avoid hand-written prescriptions where possible and prescribe in line with formulary guidance. They will take a lead role in governance, CPD and updating clinical protocols. They will operate within the standards set by regulatory bodies and the organisation.
QualityThe post-holder will strive to maintain quality, alert the team to quality and risk issues, assess own performance, and contribute to team effectiveness and patient care. They will manage time, workload and resources, ensure safe medicines management, and comply with NICE guidance, prescribing budgets, and related policies.
Other responsibilitiesIncluding contributing to service development, policy adherence, lifelong learning, audits, team discussions, and attendance at meetings. The post-holder will respect confidentiality and safety policies.

Newly qualified (within 2 years) to fulfil funding requirement and not held a salaried GP post since qualification.
