Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing all commercial and contractual aspects of designated facades and cladding projects. This includes assisting with tendering, procurement, and managing payments to the supply chain, as well as handling client-facing activities such as valuations and payment processes.
You will manage cost/value reporting, valuations, pricing contract variations, preparing claims (both time and quantum), and managing commercial and contractual correspondence.
Day-to-day, you will ensure contractual compliance and effective commercial management of live and completed projects, primarily based at the head office with site visits as required. Depending on project needs, you may also manage or mentor assistant/trainee Quantity Surveyors.
Primary Responsibilities

Prepare and review tender and contract documents.

Measure works and prepare package Scope of Works.

Review client amendments to forms of contract.

Support cost analysis for tender returns.

Establish client requirements and undertake feasibility and risk studies.

Perform commercial/contract risk assessments, earned value management, and cost control.

Manage procurement processes for the project supply chain.

Identify, analyse, and develop responses to commercial risks.

Advise on potential claims, including EOTs, delays, and variations.

Produce detailed project reports, including progress against programme.
-
Value completed work and arrange payments, issuing payment/payless notices.

Maintain awareness of current building contracts in use.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
-
Update monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports, review costs, forecasts, and prelims.

Issue monthly subcontractor certificates and client valuations.

Manage and guide junior team members.
-
Work in accordance with CML Commercial Management Manual and procedures.

Undertake contractual administration throughout the construction process.
Requirements & Skill Set
-
Proven experience in a QS/Commercial role within construction.
-
Experience in facades & cladding is advantageous but not essential.

Confident when dealing with clients and subcontractors.

Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings.

Strong commercial awareness.

Highly numerate with the ability to quickly and accurately prepare BOQs.

Confident, resourceful, and proactive with a can-do approach.

Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills.
