About the Property divisionOur team of underwriters focus on Property and Special lines across the London Market, ranging from Household, Commercial Property, Flood, Major Property and Alternate Risk. As a high performing, diverse team, we are always looking to challenge ourselves to deliver exceptional underwriting performance and quality.This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Property Binders team as a Senior Underwriter, contributing to a significant line of business within the London market during favourable trading conditions. You’ll be part of dynamic and established lead market, operating across multiple territories. If you like a challenge and work to high standards, this could be the role for you.

Key responsibilities:Underwriting new and existing risk presented to HiscoxManagement of binding authoritiesSupport the development of our products and refinement of our pricingDevelop new business across the US, Canada and CaribbeanSupport in further development of our underwriting system, control processes and reporting suiteConduct market and industry research to develop knowledgeHave established and well managed broker relationshipsAttend client meetings and events to grow industry knowledge and sell the Hiscox brandContribute to wordings and contract review processSupport with the account management and business planningExperience of portfolio management is essentialExperience as a lead market is favourableA long track record of delegated authority underwriting experienceMulti-class experience (Homeowners and Commercial and/or others)Strong mathematical literacy and interested in technical aspects of underwriting and pricing. A-level Science or Maths as a minimumA confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills both oral and writtenA strong track record of working successfully in a teamHave a good understanding of catastrophe models and their impact in writing single risks or a portfolio of risksHave a keen interest in data analyticsACII qualification is favourableA natural innovator who always looks for a better way to service their customerAbility to prioritise work and manage effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are metA winning attitude; hungry for knowledge, never satisfied and a passion for innovationA team player; believes in achieving as a team, has empathy for others and approachable even in stressful timesAdaptable; Always looks for a better way, flexible in style and resilient to change
