Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a skilled Barbering Teacher to join a specialist school in Enfield. The role will be working Mondays & Tuesdays, starting September 2025.

The School:

A highly regarded co-educational maintained secondary special school based in Enfield, North London. The school provides 120 places for students aged 11-19 who experience social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Many students have experienced disrupted education and require a nurturing, structured environment to rebuild their confidence and develop practical life skills. The school has excellent vocational facilities including a state-of-the-art barbering suite with professional equipment.

As a Barbering Teacher you will be responsible for:

• Teaching KS4-5 students with SEMH needs in practical barbering techniques and skills
• Planning and delivering engaging, hands-on lessons whilst tracking student development
• Supporting students to achieve industry-recognised qualifications (City & Guilds, VTCT)
• Working collaboratively with support staff to implement individual behaviour support plans
• Creating a safe, therapeutic learning environment that builds student confidence and self-esteem
• Liaising with careers advisors to support students'' progression into employment or further training
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety in the barbering suite
• Contributing to students'' personal development and wellbeing

To join us and be successful in this role you will ideally need:

• Professional qualifications in Barbering (NVQ Level 2/3 minimum)
• Experience teaching vocational subjects, preferably in a SEND or alternative provision setting
• Understanding of SEMH needs and trauma-informed approaches
• Current industry experience and knowledge of barbering standards
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
• Legal right to work in the UK
