Job Purpose

The Head of Art will lead and manage the Art Department, delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves inspiring creativity, fostering artistic skills, and ensuring excellent academic outcomes while promoting a passion for visual arts throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

• Lead, develop, and manage the Art Department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning
• Design and implement a dynamic and engaging Art curriculum for KS3 and KS4
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform departmental improvements
• Support and mentor Art staff, including performance management and professional development
• Manage departmental resources, budgets, and classroom environments effectively

Teaching & Learning

• Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
• Teach a broad range of artistic techniques, media, and art history
• Prepare students for GCSE Art examinations, ensuring strong outcomes
• Use assessment strategies to track progress and provide constructive feedback
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
