Mechanical Design Engineer Plymouth Location: Plymouth, Devon Hours: 50 hours per week (07 00) Contract: Long-term project Clearance: BPSS required (UK residency for past 5 years) About the Role Carmichael UK is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a major infrastructure redevelopment project at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the UK s most significant and complex engineering schemes within a highly regulated environment. You ll play a key role in supporting the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical systems for critical infrastructure, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders on-site. Key Responsibilities Support the development and review of mechanical design documentation, specifications, and drawings. Work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, and client representatives to ensure coordinated design delivery. Attend design and progress meetings both on-site and off-site. Provide technical input and problem-solving support for mechanical systems and installations. Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and project specifications. Liaise with electrical, civil, structural, and architectural teams to maintain integrated design solutions.
