Location: Redhill
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5pm, Friday 8:30am – 4pm (3 days in an office and 2 days from home)
Salary: £38,500 per annum
Job PurposeWe’re looking for a Sustainable Commodities and ESG Reporting Lead to drive our responsible sourcing strategy and lead on ESG reporting across the business. In this role, you’ll ensure our key commodities are sourced ethically and sustainably, manage supplier compliance, and deliver transparent ESG reporting to meet both regulatory requirements and customer expectations. Principle Accountabilities
Key role within the ESG team with responsibility for leadership in all internal and external reporting across all ESG metrics
Lead on the delivery of Ecovadis, CDP (Climate Change and Forests), RSPO, RTRS, 3Keel, RSPO ACOP M2030, and WRAP reporting ensuring on time and accurate information is submitted
Lead on the delivery of customer, investor and financial ESG reporting requirements
Lead the delivery of the annual Compleat ESG Report and financial reporting
Work closely with colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners to collect ESG data across all value streams to enable consistent and accurate reporting
Lead our sustainability risk assessment for our value chain working with internal stakeholders e.g procurement and external providers like Authenticate, EcoVadis and Sustained to develop a robust set of KPI’s to drive towards genuine Scope 3 reductions
Work closely with external partners to develop robust water risk filters across our own operations and down our value chain focusing on our key suppliers and highest risks
Support the collection of accurate and robust data from our own operations on food waste and general waste ensuring best practice guidance is shared both internally and with our key supplier partners
Provide ESG related data and insight for presentations to engage all stakeholders including our management, executive and group boards
Work closely with the ESG Director to engage and develop strong relationships with our customers, investors and banks, including updates and presentations to key stakeholders when required
This role will be central to the ongoing development of our Food to Feel Good ESG Impact strategy
Support on internal communication and engagement projects to champion ESG across the Group e.g. ESG Video and comms
Support community engagement through championing internal community groups and strengthening external charity partnerships with sites. Work with internal site teams to create volunteering opportunities with local charity partners
Oversee the Group’s deforestation-free commodity agenda and policy implementation. Lead engagement with key stakeholders e.g procurement, NGOs, customers and suppliers. Upskilling internal colleagues to drive awareness of changing commitments and regulatory requirements
Support site ownership of site-level ESG KPIs by sharing relevant data and supporting with site-level action plans that can drive down carbon and embed ESG initiatives across the business
Food Safety, Quality and Integrity Responsibilities
Secretariat for the Operational ESG Committee which is a key Governance structure across the group reporting to our executive board
Project Management for key ESG projects, ensuring a critical path is maintained, key stakeholders are engaged and expected outcomes are delivered
Engage directly with customers and investors to provide data and insight into Compleat’s ESG progress
Health, Safety and Environment Responsibilities
Tracking and analysis of ESG data across the Compleat group including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions along with Social Value metrics
Provide insight and recommendations for improvement to internal stakeholders to drive down energy, gas and water consumption and to reduce food waste and general waste
Support of Safety, Health and Environment function (SHE) with ESG targets, limits and KPI’s across the group ensuring consistent internal communication of progress
Key Performance Indicators
Internal and external reporting achieved on time, in full with accurate and robust data
Strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and with our external customers, investors and partner suppliers
Delivery of key ESG projects
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g. Food Science, Sustainability, Energy, Environmental Science/Management/Geography)
Experience in a Corporate Sustainability environment, preferably within a food and manufacturing, or retailer/NGO setting
Experience of sustainable commodities in food supply chain, particularly soy, palm oil and cocoa. Working understanding of legislation on these topics including EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and UK FRC
Experience in data management, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
Proven project management, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Intermediate to advanced-level Excel skills, including proficiency in data analysis and some modelling experience
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic and challenging environment
Ability to communicate complex information, uncertain data and technical details in simple terms to a wide range of stakeholders
High level of resilience and flexibility to support team requests outside of your direct remit
Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and standards, such as SBTi, SASB, TCFD, CDP and EcoVadis
Working knowledge of carbon reporting and generating Scope 1, 2 and 3 inventories
Ability to travel up to 25% of the week, workload dependent
