We are looking for an experienced midwife to work autonomously, providing holistic midwifery care that promotes maternal and family wellbeing at the Lewisham Birth Centre on a 12-month secondment. The Birth Centre aims to deliver client-centred care in a beautiful, home-from-home environment with strong teamwork and opportunities for involvement in audits and antenatal education.Responsibilities
Provide the full remit of midwifery care for women and birthing people on the Birth Centre, primarily intrapartum care.Maintain a client-centred philosophy, promote choice, and actively support women and birthing people to have the birth they choose, in partnership with the team.Work within a small team to care for women, birthing people and their families; teach and supervise student midwives.Be designated to take charge of a ward area in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility.Occasionally provide assistance in other clinical areas to cover service needs and escalation.Engage in audits and contribute to antenatal education as part of the role.Qualifications and experience
Significant midwifery experience with the ability to work autonomously.Commitment to client-centred care and promoting maternal and family wellbeing.Ability to teach and supervise student midwives; willingness to participate in audits and education activities.Work Environment and Culture
