Specialist Provision Officer (Alternative Provision)

Full-time (37 hours per week)
Hybrid working, 2 days in office per week


We are looking for a dedicated Specialist Provision Officer (Alternative Provision) to join our dynamic Provider Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning, commissioning, and contract management of specialist education provision to ensure the best outcomes for learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

About the Role

  • Support the operational delivery of commissioning activity for children and young people with SEND.
  • Work closely with Specialist Provision Managers and Officers to procure services, manage provider agreements, and monitor performance.
  • Ensure contracts are effectively managed, reviewed, and deliver value for money.
  • Monitor financial viability, quality of delivery, and contractual compliance.
  • Assist with service development by collecting and analysing data to inform decision-making.
  • Contribute to collaborative approaches across internal teams and external partners.
  • Play a key part in supporting co-production and compliance in all commissioning and procurement processes.

What We''re Looking For

  • A Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs provision, including alternative provision.
  • Understanding of the SEND reforms (2014) and local authority responsibilities around the Local Offer.
  • Strong data handling and reporting skills, including use of Microsoft Excel and business systems.
  • Experience in contract management, commissioning, and partnership working.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
