This role is accountable for enabling the team to deliver the timely and accurate monthly UK payroll (approx. 1,100 employees) and smaller European payrolls in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg and The Netherlands (approx. 200 employees). The role also has responsibility for the administration of the Swedish employees processed via an EOR, and oversight of the payrolls in France and Spain. The role includes reviewing, improving, and updating processes, and supporting projects with payroll impact, including setup of new payrolls and use of new supporting systems. Support with annual benefit renewals and implementation of new benefits in relation to payroll, such as understanding taxation and budgeting for additional employer costs such as social security.Key Responsibilities

Assist the team to process the various payrolls with the ability to cover BAU processing when needed, such as covering absence, and act as a point of escalation for payroll provider issuesEnsure deadlines are met for employees to be paid accurately and on time in accordance with statutory legislation and contracts of employment, and in line with Internal Audit compliance standards and JSOX requirementsLiaise with Finance to complete monthly payroll reconciliations, particularly for employees split across multiple payrolls; act as main contact for GL queries and for issues with the integrated GL solutionStay up to date with relevant regulations/legislation and determine the impact of changes, updating the wider team, policies and processes as neededSupport the Head of Pay and Benefits International with international secondments, expats and double taxation requirementsIdentify and implement continuous improvements across payrollAssist with internal and external audits in a timely and professional mannerPrepare and submit data for pay gap reportingPrepare data for Board reports and metrics, ensuring data is clear and usefulMaintain up-to-date process documentation for internal use and employee guidesCoach and develop other payroll team membersResponsible for the Short-Term Business Visitor return, including identifying potential triggers for UK tax liabilityKeep intranet payroll information, deadlines and FAQs up to datePerformance Objectives

Support the bedding in of the integrated Workday PECI solution with our external payroll provider, adapting processes and documents as needed. Lead on the payrolling of company cars, explaining the pay impact to employees.Skills and Experience

Ideally a minimum of 7 years payroll experienceCIPP qualified or equivalentComprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation (income tax, national insurance, statutory regulations)Up-to-date knowledge of payroll in at least 4 other supported countriesExperience managing a small teamAdaptable to changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines with accuracyExcellent attention to detailStrong proficiency in payroll systemsSolution-focused and analytically mindedOutstanding interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken)Experience leading payroll-related projects with timely deliveryExperience of using Workday HCMExperience in the Insurance or Financial Services sectorExperience of Short-Term Business Visitor returnsWhat We Offer
