An opportunity has arisen for a

Payroll Manager

to join a people-first organisation on a

12-month fixed-term contract . This is a

part-time role (60% FTE / 21 hours per week) .

You’ll be the go-to person for all things payroll, working closely with a third-party provider and internal teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for around 160 employees and a pool of casual staff.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end monthly payroll processing in partnership with a managed service provider

Ensure accurate data input, approvals, and disbursements across three entities

Administer payroll-related benefits including pensions, bonuses, and salary changes

Maintain compliance with HMRC and UK payroll legislation (P60s, P11Ds, etc.)

Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries and reporting

Support audits, budgeting, and workforce planning

Mentor and oversee one junior

Skills and Experience

Experience running payroll for 100+ employees

Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance

Proficient in Excel and payroll/HRIS systems

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Confident working with third-party payroll providers
