Supply Desk is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. This is a full-time position starting September 2025, offering a fantastic opportunity to inspire and educate students through the power of language and literature.

Job Description:


  • Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable but not essential).
  • Plan and implement effective teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and contribute to departmental assessment practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to develop and enrich the English curriculum.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities related to English, such as creative writing clubs or school publications.
  • Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment, promoting respect, participation, and academic growth.
  • Support the development of studentsandrsquo; literacy, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate, maintaining effective lines of communication.



Our Ideal Candidate Will:


  • Be a qualified English Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in the UK.
  • Have experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
  • Be passionate about English literature and language, with a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Be able to engage, inspire, and motivate students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Have strong classroom management skills and a proactive approach to behaviour management.
  • Be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a clear, enhanced DBS check.
  • Be open to ongoing professional development and actively contribute to school life.
