About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Road Freight & Customs Operator to join a busy and growing operations team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coordinate European road freight shipments, manage UK import and export customs clearances, and support wider logistics and warehouse projects.

This role is ideal for someone with strong road freight forwarding experience who is confident handling end-to-end transport movements across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate European road freight shipments (import and export), ensuring smooth end-to-end movement
• Arrange full and part load (FTL/LTL) road transport with carriers and overseas partners
• Organise collections and deliveries across the UK and Europe, ensuring efficient routing and transit times
• Prepare, review, and manage shipping and customs documentation including CMRs, commercial invoices, and packing lists
• Prepare and submit UK import and export customs declarations
• Track shipments and provide proactive, accurate updates to customers
• Liaise with hauliers, drivers, and overseas agents to resolve operational issues
• Manage supplier invoicing, customer billing, and transport-related costs
• Support inbound and outbound movements for warehouse and 3PL operations
• Maintain operational records, KPI reporting, and full shipment visibility across systems

Essential

• Proven experience in road freight forwarding / European road transport operations
• Strong knowledge of UK import/export customs procedures
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable using IT systems and transport management software

Desirable

• Experience with road freight
• Exposure to CFSP customs processes
• Experience working with warehouse or 3PL operations
• Familiarity with systems such as Scope, CNS, Destin8, and e-Customs by Descartes
