Due to the retirement of one of our long-serving staff members, OswaldMedical Centre is looking to welcome a dedicated full time Medical Secretary (upto 37.5 hours per week) to our supportive and dynamic team. We are aforward-thinking, award-winning practice serving over 16,250 patients acrossthree sites in Accrington, Oswaldtwistle, and Blackburn.Main duties of the job

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial andadministrative duties and the provision of administrative support to themultidisciplinary team.Duties can include, but are not limited to, theprocessing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner,liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such assecondary care and community service providers in accordance with current policies,including the use of the electronic referral service (ERS).About us

Job Summary:To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial andadministrative duties and the provision of administrative support to themultidisciplinary team.Duties can include, but are not limited to, theprocessing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner,liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such assecondary care and community service providers in accordance with current policies,including the use of the electronic referral service (ERS).The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Medical Secretary. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry outother tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:a. Typing letters, reports and associateddocumentation as requiredb. Liaising with external agencies such ashospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficientlyc. Managing all enquiries in an effectivemannerd. Maintaining an accurate referralsdatabasee. Actioning all incoming emailf. Processing calling letters as requestedg. Scanning of patient relateddocumentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare recordsh. Inputting data into the patientshealthcare records as necessaryi. Processing referrals using theelectronic referral system (ERS)j. Work with the Administration Team for Processingrequests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLAforms to ensure these are completed in a timely mannerk. Clinically coding data on EMIS ClinicalSysteml. Answering incoming phone calls,transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriatelym. Managing all administrative queries asnecessaryn. Carrying out system searches asrequestedo. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effectiveworking area at all timesp. Supporting all clinical staff with generaladministrative tasks as requestedPerson Specification

Experience
