Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Council Tax Officer on behalf of Luton Borough Council.Main purpose of position:To work as a member of the team responsible for the billing administration and collection of Council Tax.You will be responsible to: Process: credit balance reports and promptly action refunds, suspense items and transfers, new and cancelled Direct Debits for Council Tax. Amendments including changes to occupation, banding, direct debits, entitlement to relief''s discounts exemptions and changes to payment method. Deal with all correspondence and other forms of communication and update and maintain manual and computer records and systems in line with pre-determined targets Assist in determination of statutory relief''s, discounts and exemptions from Council Tax and systematic renewals of entitlement. Make referrals to visiting officers for void cases, exemptions and occupations. Update the Council Tax list to agreed standards, including balancing to the Valuation Officer totals where appropriate. Assist in the delivery of local and national key performance indicators (for example telephone response times, letter reply to standards and Council Tax collected. Skills and Experience:Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment, using and maintaining manual and computerised systemsAble to communicate verbally and in writing with a wide range of customersAble to use and accurately maintain manual and computer recordsAble to plan and organise own work
