Providing overall systems leadership for large and complex science/engineering projectsDeveloping design specifications and conducting design activitiesCompleting technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical optionsReviewing, agreeing, and controlling external and internal interface documentsDeveloping instrument performance models, manufacturing tolerances, and component specificationsManaging technical budgets and tolerancesDeveloping assembly, integration, and test plans to verify compliance with requirementsManaging the assembly, integration, and testing of systems and sub-systems of instruments and scientific productsProviding technical delivery of complex hardware and software systemsPlanning, coordinating, and delivering internal and external reviewsDocumenting system design, processes, procedures, and test resultsLiaising with other specialists to ensure performance is maintained and requirements are metGenerating and reviewing technical proposals, providing accurate estimates for effort, costs, and risksQualifications

Degree in Physics or an applicable engineering subject area (Optical, Mechanical, Electronics, Systems, or Software) or equivalentIndustry experience in systems engineering across the full systems engineering lifecycleExperience in developing and delivering complex instrumentation and control systemsKnowledge of a wide range of technologiesExcellent analytical and technical problem-solving skillsStrong project management skillsExperience in managing multidisciplinary science/engineering teamsExcellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills
