IT Technician

Location:

Colchester and Halstead - 5 days onsite

Contract:

3-6 months

Pay Rate:

£150 per day PAYE

Responsibilities

Provide onsite IT support at two schools in Essex (Colchester or Halstead); role based at either location.

Work in an onsite environment delivering 2nd–3rd line support as required.

Maintain customer-focused service, including clear communication with users at all levels.

Adhere to safeguarding policies, procedures and codes of conduct; report safeguarding concerns in line with policy; participate in safeguarding training as required.

Engage in continuous improvement of IT service delivery and maintain up-to-date inventories.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience in an onsite environment providing 2nd–3rd line IT support.

Experience working in a customer-facing environment.

Experience in education or a similar sector is preferable.

Strong customer service and communication skills (written and verbal).

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with people at all levels.

Ability to explain technical matters to non-technical users in plain language.

Team player, proactive, with good listening and constructive input.

Empathetic, calm, and professional under pressure.

Good judgement and decision-making; know when to escalate or signpost issues.

Willingness to establish new processes or follow existing ones.

Technical Skills

Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022

Windows 10 and 11

Active Directory support

Office 365; Microsoft Office desktop

LAN and WAN technologies and protocols (VLAN, wireless, DNS, DHCP)

MIS experience is useful but not essential

Azure AD and some knowledge of Intune

Desktop/Server hardware support and troubleshooting

Apple device management and support (mainly iPads)

AV and interactive boards/screens; shared printing solutions
