Responsibilities
Preparing US and UK tax returns based on client data provided in various formats under the overall support of a line manager.
Continuing to develop an overall understanding of the tax return preparation processes and develop your ability to manage your work.
Sense-checking the client’s position and being able to discuss the reasons for a payment being due, a nil liability or a repayment with the reviewer.
Working with clients to prevent double taxation. This is demonstrated through the quality of your work in terms of foreign versus US sourcing of income on a US return and the claim for foreign tax credits on a US and UK tax return.
Able to identify and understand tax filing requirements and the consequences of US ownership of non-US entities and vice versa.
Reviewing straightforward tax returns.
Self-reviewing your work before passing it on to a manager for review and ensuring your numbers match the returns.
Listing the items of information needed to complete a tax return. This will involve identifying missing information and flagging potential tax issues for managers.
