We have a great opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join our team. The Housing and Pollution specialist will undertake HMO licensing, inspect properties for HHSRS compliance and carry out enforcement, respond to nuisance, filthy and verminous premises, permitted processes and contaminated land, and serving notices as necessary. The role will also respond to planning and licensing consultations and contribute to public health initiatives.Responsibilities
Carry out a programme of work as agreed with the Environmental Health Manager.Investigate complaints and requests for service in the area and for the duties of the role.Ensure all environmental matters within the area are recorded and pursued to secure compliance.Work within a team of officers and cover colleagues when needed.Support and comply with quality practices as described in the Corporate Quality Policy.Attend and advise Area Committees, presenting reports as required.Observe Council and Directorate safety policies.Promote the principles of the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy in all areas of employment and service delivery.Advise the Environmental Health Manager if duties cannot be carried out.Willingness and ability to work outside normal office hours when required.Carry out other duties to support the business, including during civil emergencies.Promote the Council’s Safeguarding Procedure in employment and service delivery.Carry out any other duties as directed by the Head of Service.Experience You Will Bring / Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in Environmental Health or demonstrate active progress toward qualification. Career grade candidates’ pay will be capped at scale point 29 (currently £40,212) until fully qualified.
