Engineering Supervisor | Food Manufacturing | Colchester | up to -65,000 (DOE) + Benefits

Are you an experienced engineering professional looking for a hands-on leadership role within a busy food manufacturing environment?

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Supervisor to support and guide a multi-skilled engineering team within a busy ready-to-eat (RTE) production facility in Colchester.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. This is a hands-on position, combining technical fault-finding with day-to-day supervision of engineering activities on site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, solutions-focused engineer with a "can-do" mindset who thrives in a fast-moving FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a multi-skilled engineering team across factory operations
• Carry out and oversee planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and PLC-related faults on automated production equipment
• Support the effective use and upkeep of the site maintenance system
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and site standards
• Drive continuous improvement activities to reduce downtime and improve reliability
• Assist with engineering projects, including installation and commissioning
• Coordinate with contractors and suppliers where required
• Work closely with production, quality, H&S, and technical teams to maintain site performance

About You

• Previous experience in a supervisory or senior engineer role within food manufacturing or FMCG
• Strong electrical and automation background, including hands-on PLC fault-finding
• Good understanding of PPM systems and maintenance best practices
• Practical problem-solver with a proactive, hands-on approach
• Strong communication skills and ability to support and motivate a team
• Comfortable working in a busy production environment
• Relevant engineering qualification (HNC / HND / Degree) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
