Overview

Ferrovial Construction is recruiting for a

Design Engineer

to join the project team in London Heathrow (Location: Heathrow H7, London, UK).Role: Design Engineer reporting to the Design Manager, working closely with the Project Manager and liaising with Client, Design Consultants and stakeholders. Responsible for delivering design on time and on budget, complying with Quality, Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Sustainability standards, and managing the design contract including design changes, risk and opportunities. This role provides opportunities to use new technologies, tools and software to bring innovation to the project.Responsibilities

Tendering design packages from project briefs received by the Client; understand scope and negotiate offers upstream and downstream.Agree Design Responsibility Matrix with all parties with design input to ensure no gaps or overlaps.Coordinate the design team activities to ensure the project design is completed on budget and on time, in line with the cost plan and construction programme.Monitor and track progress of the design, manage slippages, and act as the interface with the management team.Define and manage design interfaces; lead reviews of the design with interested parties.Promote and materialise value engineering opportunities throughout the design process.Work with procurement to ensure compliance with financial parameters and assist in defining scopes for subcontracting works packages.Ensure design compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.Support audits with Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental teams; liaise with client representatives on design development as required.Review and agree Consultants’ monthly applications for payment.Assist the Design Manager in managing the design team, including resourcing, performance management and motivation.Promote company values in dealings with employees, clients, subcontractors and external contacts.Qualifications and Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage time effectively, maximise efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.Ability to take on additional responsibilities and prioritise with minimal guidance.Proactive approach to incorporating new technologies on site at different project stages.Experience in a cost-conscious environment.Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at various levels.Excellent written and spoken English.Experience of working in the construction industry.Ferrovial embraces diversity and inclusion and is committed to equal opportunities for all employees.
