Senior/Principal Engineer - Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)As a Principal Engineer you will focus on technical and project delivery of energy storage assignments and take a leading position in developing WSP’s services in this area.

Responsibilities

Leading and delivering high-quality technical services for feasibility, development, owner’s engineer, and technical due diligence assignments focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Experience in utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.

Providing technical input to BESS developments at each stage of the project development lifecycle, including their integration with other electrical or generating plants as necessary.

Training, supervising, and reviewing the work of junior and middle-level engineers and being responsible for the level of quality of their work.

Advising clients on the project development and execution processes, including key stages, timescales, and risks.

Leading and supporting the project and interface management between engineering and environmental disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, control and instrumentation, planning, environmental, etc.).

Drafting and reviewing technical specifications, e.g. employer’s requirements, evaluating tenders, and supporting negotiations for the appointments of contractors.

Carrying out client engagement activities, including reviewing enquiries and preparing proposals for prospective projects.

We''d Love To Hear From You If You Have

A degree in a relevant engineering, technical or scientific discipline, preferably a post-graduation in subjects related to the renewable energy sector,

An in-depth technical, commercial, and field knowledge regarding BESS technologies and their deployment.

Strong knowledge of emerging BESS technologies and the international market,

Strong knowledge of the BESS market and its key clients

Experience in developing UK utility-scale sites at any stage (experience from multiple stages would be preferred),

Capability to manage projects and lead a team of multi-disciplinary engineers,

Preferably have Chartered Engineer status or progressing towards achieving Chartered status,

Ability to engage directly with clients for the delivery of projects and to build positive relationship to support securing future work,

Attention to detail; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
