The Role
We are seeking an experienced Head of Insourcing to lead the strategic growth and operational delivery of our Insourcing division across the UK and Ireland.
Building on an established and successful market entry, this senior leadership role will scale a clinically robust and commercially sustainable insourcing service, supporting NHS Trusts and healthcare partners with elective recovery and service resilience.
This is a hands-on role combining strategic leadership, operational delivery, commercial oversight, and team development across multiple concurrent NHS projects.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Business Development
You will develop and deliver the insourcing growth strategy across the UK and Ireland, identifying priority clinical specialties and regions for expansion. The role will define and execute the NHS partnership and business development approach, with ownership of the divisional business plan. You will shape market positioning and marketing narrative and support NHS bids and tender submissions.
Operational Leadership (NHS-Focused)
You will lead the mobilisation and delivery of multiple NHS insourcing contracts and maintain an on-site presence to support successful implementation. The role provides end-to-end operational oversight across all live projects and includes participation in an on-call rota. You will ensure alignment with NHS governance, safety, and quality standards, oversee rota planning, workforce coordination, and capacity modelling, implement scalable operational processes, and establish and monitor performance dashboards aligned to NHS KPIs.
Clinical Governance and Quality
You will ensure compliance with CQC and NHS regulatory standards and act as CQC Registered Manager. The role is responsible for embedding audit, incident reporting, and risk management frameworks, maintaining high standards of patient safety and patient experience, overseeing clinical concerns and escalation processes, and supporting elective recovery and backlog reduction programmes.
Commercial and Financial Management
You will develop and implement pricing strategies aligned to NHS commissioning models and deliver revenue, margin, and EBITDA targets. The role includes leading contract negotiations, financial forecasting, and driving operational efficiency and cost optimisation.
Leadership and Team Development
You will build, lead, and inspire high-performing operational and sales teams, establish clear KPIs and performance management frameworks, develop and manage a flexible clinical workforce bank, and lead multi-site, multidisciplinary teams.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
Senior leadership experience within NHS operations or healthcare services.
A proven track record delivering large-scale services within acute NHS Trusts.
Strong commercial and financial management capability.
Experience managing multiple concurrent healthcare projects.
Desirable Experience
Insourcing or elective recovery programme experience.
Understanding of NHS tariff and commissioning frameworks.
Experience scaling multi-site healthcare services.
Success Measures
Achievement of revenue and margin targets.
Successful mobilisation and delivery of NHS insourcing contracts.
Contribution to elective recovery performance.
