Nursery Assistant (Deputy Room Leader) – Independent School (East Surrey Area)

An outstanding independent school in the East Surrey area is looking for a caring and confident Nursery Assistant (Deputy Room Leader) to support the leadership of their under 2s room within a well-established and nurturing nursery setting. This is a full-time, all-year-round position offering the opportunity to help shape an exceptional early years environment.
 
What We’re Looking For:

• A Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Early Years
• Experience working as a Nursery Assistant, ideally supporting or leading in a baby room
• A strong understanding of EYFS, safeguarding, and child development
• Confident supporting routines, leading group activities, and engaging with parents
• A positive team player, able to take initiative and support the Room Leader
• Comfortable supporting learning observations, key person responsibilities, and children’s wellbeing
• A warm, professional approach and genuine enthusiasm for working with young children

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Room Leader in managing daily routines, staff deployment, and classroom set-up
• Lead small group activities and contribute to planning, observations, and assessments
• Foster a caring, inclusive environment where each child feels safe, supported, and able to thrive
• Deputise in the absence of the Room Leader, ensuring smooth running of the under 2s room
• Uphold excellent standards in care, communication, and compliance as a valued Nursery Assistant
