A well-established and growing UK manufacturing business is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design and development of engineered fluid-handling and spray-based product solutions used across commercial and industrial environments.
This is a hands-on role focused on product design, improvement, and innovation, working closely with production, sales, and operations to deliver practical, efficient, and high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop engineered products and assemblies, including pipework, brackets, housings, nozzles, fittings, and associated components
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings, detail drawings, and assembly layouts
- Support new product development (NPD/NPI), prototyping, and testing activities
- Work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are robust, cost-effective, and suitable for volume production
- Develop and maintain BOMs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation
- Support the adaptation and customisation of products to meet customer-specific requirements and site constraints
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to translate functional requirements into clear engineering solutions
- Manage engineering change requests and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support troubleshooting activities related to performance, quality, installation, or assembly challenges
- Ensure all designs comply with appropriate safety standards and regulatory requirements
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a Design Engineer or Product Design role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit or similar)
- Practical understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and tolerances
- Experience designing products involving mechanical assemblies, tubing/pipework, fittings, or fabricated components
- Ability to work collaboratively across design, production, and commercial teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation standards
- Confident managing multiple design tasks and priorities
- Background in fluid systems, spray systems, HVAC-related products, or industrial equipment
- Experience with plastic mouldings, machined parts, or fabricated metal components
- HNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or similar discipline
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments
