Field Engineer - Navigation & Communications Systems
Location: London Area / Kent
Salary: -60,168 per annum + 26% allowances (-75,811 total package)
Working Pattern: Full time, on-call rota (1 week in 4)
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist Navigation Systems team during a period of significant system replacement and upgrade. The role offers the chance to work with a wide range of critical technologies in unique and challenging operational environments.
As a Field Engineer, you will work as part of a team supporting and maintaining operationally critical systems, with a primary focus on RADAR, VHF and microwave technologies. The role combines hands-on engineering, problem solving, and working at height across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support a range of navigation and communications systems
- Contribute to the planning, installation and support of operationally critical equipment
- Ensure existing assets are regularly maintained and available for service 24/7
- Take part in an on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 4), including out-of-hours and weekend working
- Deliver a high level of customer service while working effectively both independently and as part of a team
Days off are provided before and after on-call periods.
What We''re Looking For
We''re looking for tech-curious, proactive and competent engineers with strong communication and problem-solving skills, who enjoy working in varied environments and taking ownership of their work.
Essential experience and skills include:
- Degree in electronic engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years'' hands-on experience in a comparable engineering role
- Strong technical knowledge of RADAR, radio and microwave systems
- Experience designing, maintaining or repairing electrical, electronic and computer-based systems
- Ability to work at height to an advanced level and achieve relevant certifications
- Ability to pass a medical evaluation and maintain fitness levels to work safely
You''ll need to be methodical, calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a close-knit team.
