Location: Sheffield
Salary: £100–£115 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time | Term-time only

PK Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in primary or secondary school settings.
Through the PK Pathway, we welcome both experienced candidates and those new to education who are eager to develop their skills with full training and ongoing support.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting Pupils
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language needs)
- Help students understand instructions and stay engaged in learning activities
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Support personal care or mobility needs where required
Supporting Teaching & Learning
- Work alongside teachers to adapt learning materials and activities
- Support delivery of EHCPs, IEPs, and personalised learning plans
- Use targeted strategies and interventions to support progress
Monitoring & Reporting
- Observe and record pupil progress and behaviour
- Provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs
- Contribute to review meetings and assessments
Supporting the School
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality procedures
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable)
- A patient, empathetic, and caring approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Desirable:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Knowledge of SEN such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia
- Previous school-based experience
