Occupational Therapist/ Blue Badge Assessor

Manchester City Council is looking to recruit a Blue Badge Assessor to join their Assessment Team within the Children and Families Directorate. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to work in a clinic-based setting, supporting citizens through the Blue Badge application process. The role pays 30- 32 per hour, depending on skills and experience.Main Duties for the Blue Badge Assessor include:Carrying out triage and in-person mobility assessments for individuals applying under the ''subject to further assessment'' Blue Badge criteria.Assessing applicants in line with Department for Transport Local Authority Guidance, considering both physical and non-visible (hidden) conditions.Issuing and recommending walking aids and equipment during assessments, as appropriate.Signposting citizens to additional services and resources to support independence and well-being.Collaborating with external agencies and internal teams to ensure consistent and holistic support.Maintaining up-to-date and accurate manual and electronic records in line with service standards.Recognising and escalating safeguarding or mental capacity concerns to the appropriate manager.Contributing to the ongoing development of the service and engaging in relevant training opportunities.To Be Successful:Relevant experience in carrying out mobility or clinical assessments, preferably in a community or clinic setting.Understanding of Blue Badge eligibility criteria, including knowledge of both v
