Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager for Marketing and Promotions leads and manages a critical team within King’s Player Experience Operations organization. This role is accountable for building, scaling, and maintaining systems that underpin King’s product marketing capabilities. These systems are foundational to King’s player-centric strategy and enable cross-game personalization, marketing and engagement. The team’s mission is to equip game teams with the tools, data, and capabilities needed to deliver impactful player experiences and interactions. The engineering manager will need to bridge content, data, and operations to enable effective marketing across channels inside and outside the games. This may extend to overseeing a virtual team including team members from other Live Ops sub-domains and Game Platform’s Core Data team.

Responsibilities

Deliver scalable, secure, and compliant consumer marketing systems and ensure high reliability (e.g., Braze, segmentation, events management).

Collaborate with Product and Marketing stakeholders to meet evolving business requirements and drive standardization and platform-wide adoption of core marketing technology.

Define and communicate the engineering strategy for Marketing and Promotions; develop a cohesive vision and execution plan across teams.

Drive cross-domain collaboration and integration with Game Systems, Live Ops, Economy, and Player Data to enable interoperable marketing capabilities.

Champion operational excellence and developer experience; embed automation, observability, and reliability; reduce onboarding time for game teams.

Enable scalable infrastructure by leading engineering delivery of systems that manage regulatory complexity and partner with CRM and PXO stakeholders.

Foster a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture with focus on experimentation, knowledge sharing, and accountability.

Key Activities and Goals

Goal 1: Deliver scalable, secure, and compliant consumer marketing systems and data connections that support marketing campaigns with high reliability and privacy protections.

Key Activities: Modernize marketing technology; standardize platform tools; design data-exchange contracts; build real-time and batch data pipelines; expose self-serve APIs and SDKs; automate data-quality monitoring and alerting; pilot attribution and suppression logic.

Potential Success Metrics: 30% reduction in setup time for marketing campaigns; improved engagement and marketer experience; increased efficiency per FTE; faster time-to-market for innovations.

Goal 2: Deliver data connections between King and Third-Party systems to improve reporting and attribution and automate CRM activity.

Key Activities: Define unified data-exchange contracts; enable data access for marketers; ensure GDPR/CCPA compliance; orchestrate cross-domain reviews; monitor data quality and privacy flags.

Potential Success Metrics: Increased scale of personalized communications; reduced schema-drift; reduced manual data-mapping effort; improved marketer NPS on data availability and reliability.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

Marketing Technology and Live Games as a Service: Deep understanding of consumer marketing tech (e.g., Braze, Swrve or competitors), secure data management, and Live Ops strategies across devices and platforms.

MarTech Engineering: Experience building backend services at scale to engage global audiences; familiarity with MarTech trends and data privacy regulations.

Backend Scalability and Operability: Experience building high-volume, high-availability services with strong observability, alerting, and recovery practices.

Key Skills: Technical Strategy and System Architecture; Cross-Functional Alignment; Execution Excellence and Flow Efficiency; Organizational Leadership and Coaching; Change Management and Communication.
