SEND Teaching Assistant andndash; Swale
Full-Time | Required: September 2025 andndash; July 2026 (Permanent Opportunity Available)
Supply Desk are currently seeking a passionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the Swale area. This rewarding role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with SEND, whether in a primary or secondary setting, who is open and enthusiastic about working in a secondary school environment.
The school are committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing space where all students can thrive, especially those requiring additional support due to Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and Global Developmental Delay. The successful candidate will support students either on a 1:1 basis or in small group settings, helping to foster academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with ASC, SEMH, or global delay in their daily learning and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEND team to deliver tailored support.
- Assist in the implementation of Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Foster a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and emotional regulation.
- Monitor progress and adapt support strategies in partnership with the SENDCO and external professionals.
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally with a working knowledge of Autism, SEMH, or developmental delays.
- A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach with strong behaviour management strategies.
- Ability to work flexibly within a team and take direction from teaching and SEND staff.
- Confidence supporting children at a secondary age level, even if previous experience was in a primary setting.
- A genuine passion for helping students with additional needs reach their full potential.
This full-time role begins in September 2025 and will run through the academic year, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.
