Shire Healthcare is supporting an international provider of HR and psychological services as they expand their UK Educational Psychology offering.

This is a unique opportunity to join a new and developing team, giving you genuine scope to shape the service, influence best practice, and play a key role in its long-term growth.

Role Overview

We are seeking an HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist to deliver high-quality statutory assessments, with a particular focus on EHCP work.

This position offers a structured and supported model of working, where you will collaborate closely with a Junior Educational Psychologist who will assist with assessment processes. You will take a lead role in reviewing, analysing, and finalising reports, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based outcomes.

It is an excellent opportunity for an EP looking for flexibility alongside career progression, with the chance to take on increasing responsibility as the service grows.

Key Responsibilities

Statutory / EHCP Work

  • Lead on psychological input for EHC Needs Assessments
  • Review and finalise assessment data gathered by a Junior EP
  • Produce high-quality statutory advice reports in line with local authority requirements
  • Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations, including Section F provision
  • Work within statutory timelines (20-week EHCP process)

Assessment & Oversight

  • Interpret cognitive, behavioural, and emotional assessment data
  • Ensure robust, accurate formulation of needs (e.g. learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, SEMH)
  • Provide professional oversight and guidance to junior team members

Collaboration

  • Work with local authorities, schools, parents, and legal professionals
  • Contribute to a collaborative and developing multidisciplinary approach

Reporting

  • Produce and sign off high-quality reports for EHCP processes and SEND tribunals
  • Maintain accurate, compliant case records

Essential Requirements

  • HCPC registration as an Educational Psychologist
  • Experience completing EHCP/statutory assessments
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage caseloads and meet deadlines
  • Enhanced DBS (online/registered DBS preferred)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with SEND tribunals or expert witness work
  • Experience in supervising or supporting junior colleagues
  • Background in independent/private practice
  • Experience delivering remote assessments

Working Model & Benefits

  • Fully remote and flexible working
  • Structured workload (not high-volume locum work)
  • Work within a growing, supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to mentor junior staff and influence service development
  • Clear scope for career progression as the UK service expands
  • Ongoing, consistent work with a focus on quality over quantity
