A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Design EngineerDevelop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design, review, estimation, site supervision, and support as required.Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.Prepare plant and equipment technical specifications, power cable route specifications, tender specifications, technical and progress reports.Ensure correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects, attend and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.Perform technical calculations including cable sizing, rating calculations, TMF and EMF calculations, sheath-induced voltage calculations, and others.Ensure all project designs comply with CDM regulations, relevant legislation, and company procedures.Ensure drawings and specifications contain sufficient, accurate information for construction, requesting missing details timely to avoid delays.Hold a Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.Have detailed design experience in HV cabling projects.Coordinate HV Cable Works design and interfaces throughout the project lifecycle, including development of drawings and calculations.Understand the commercial and technical issues in undertaking large-scale construction projects.Communicate effectively with engineers across various levels and disciplines.Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer (HV Cables) to work in our Murphy Applied Engineering team in Kentish Town, London.Our engineering teams encompass civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical, and process engineers, designing permanent and temporary works for projects across locations.
