Transport Manager

Salary -40,000, Avonmouth BS11, 28 days holiday incl bank hols, pension, parking, bonus scheme, hours 7.30am - 5pm Mon - Friday, 1 hour lunch break.

Established and successful supplier in Avonmouth are recruiting for a transport manager reporting to the site manager.

Responsibilities for the transport manager

• Planning all transport logistics, leading a transport co-ordinator and a fleet of 5 vehicles

• Responsible for communicating with the sales team on a daily basis to ensure that the potential of each load is maximised.

• Responsible for route planning and scheduling ensuring that all paperwork is correctly booked out and Driver and Loading Manifests are completed correctly

• Liaise with service providers and drivers to make sure that vehicles are taken in for M.O.T and services on the required dates. Whilst ensuring that any defects are reported and dealt with.

• Also responsible for all drivers conduct, Working Time directives, training, PDP, infringements and transport KPI''s

• Attend daily meetings and communicate changes and reset priorities with team

• IT literate and familiar with Microsoft suite, able to utilise systems for route planning and reporting

Key Skills required for the Transport manager

• CPC certificate in transport management preferred but not essential if candidates can demonstrate a suitable and relevant work history

• Knowledge and familiar of FORS currently Bronze and progressing Silver

• Requires previous experience of working in transport management or at a supervisory level leading a team consisiting of a transport coordinator and drivers

• Fast moving, volume supply business, so the ability to multi-task and be very responsive to customer demands is essential

• Responsible for ensuring drivers comply with Work Time Directive and driving hours legislation, annual appraisals, planning staff holidays and suitable cover if required

• IT literate and familiar with transport and route planning systems, producing reports and information for the management team

• Full driving licence required
