An exciting opportunity for an Operational Excellence Manager has arisen, working in the Operations function within Leonardo. The role focuses on optimising Operations Manufacturing through Process Excellence and Lean and Six Sigma practices, across lifecycle phases including New Product Introduction (NPI), Delivery (sustaining), and In service (customer).What You’ll Do
Process optimisation: analyse current manufacturing, business support and logistics processes to identify waste, reduce cycle times and inefficienciesImplement lean manufacturing techniques to optimise manufacturing flow, material handling, data flow and waste (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value stream mapping, kanban)Train staff on lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principles and best practicesMonitor data to identify performance gaps and effectiveness of lean strategies; adjust as necessaryAnalyse current operational processes and performance; implement improvements as requiredCollaborate with production teams to implement process improvementsDevelop standardised work instructions to ensure consistency and efficiencyLead continuous improvement projects, Kaizen events and optimisationsAssist in root cause analysis to address production issuesDocument process changes and results for future reference and ongoing improvementEnsure lean improvements adhere to safety regulations and quality requirementsProvide training, coaching and supportCreate a culture that improves manufacturing efficiency with capacity analysis, simulation planning, workflow, space requirements and equipment layoutPromote best practice sharing and knowledge exploitationMentor and develop team members; create lean training materials and programsConduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/business issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity and facility design; create process documentationWhat You’ll Bring
Proven experience as an Operational Excellence Manager or similar; evidence of implementationUnderstanding of lean and Six Sigma manufacturing principles and ability to implement themStrong problem-solving abilitiesExcellent leadership and team management skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsExperience with statistical analysis and process improvement toolsBSc degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related fieldCertification in Lean Six Sigma is a strong advantageThis is not an exhaustive list; we welcome applicants even if you don’t meet every item.
