Are you an experienced palliative care nurse with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement? Marie Curie invites a highly driven and enthusiastic individual to join our new service at the Royal Free Hospital. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to identify patients in the Emergency Department likely in their last year of life, provide specialist palliative care, and facilitate rapid discharge to the patient’s preferred place of care, aligned with patient choice.Responsibilities

Lead on clinical assessments and care planningProvide advanced symptom control and communication supportCoordinate with community and hospital palliative care services to facilitate rapid discharge home/preferred place of careSupervise Senior Healthcare Assistants, mentor emergency department staff, and support team learningManage nursing services for individuals with terminal illnesses, support their loved ones, and collaborate with other health professionalsOffer expert advice and support as a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, managing a caseload of patients with complex needs while upholding high standards of careAdhere to legal, ethical, capability, and clinical frameworks and Marie Curie policies; take accountability within the scope of the roleQualifications

Experience working in Specialist Palliative Care; proven experience delivering care to patients with complex needs to ensure comfort and quality of life during terminal illnessPrior experience with complex discharges in an emergency department is preferred but not requiredRegistered Nurse on NMC register (Adult)Ability to connect with patients and families on an emotional level, providing support and understanding during difficult timesJob Details

Job Structure: 12-month fixed-term contractHours: 37.5 per week, long day shiftsWorkdays: Starts Monday to Friday; weekends as the service growsSalary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 6 (AFC aligned) £38,682–£46,580, Plus High-cost area SupplementLocation: Royal Free Hospital, LondonBenefits
