mechanical/civil/structural

engineer/analyst to its Applied Mechanics Group with opportunities to contribute to Holtec’s first of a kind small modular reactor (SMR) design. Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of engineers designing the next nuclear power plant.The senior engineer would be called upon to analyze metallic, reinforced concrete and soil-subgrade supported structures. The analyses may support engineering and licensing requirements, leading to the licensing and construction of SMR-300 plants across the globe. The engineer will use and learn various methods and software to perform the analyses.SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYExecute and document analyses for a variety of structures, systems and components (SSCs)Review available concept designs based on an ambiguous set of requirements, then develop them into mature designs by critical thinking, literature research, interacting with members from other disciplines and vendors, and any analyses as permitted by project milestonesSupport the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetingsSupport development of engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear SSCsTYPICAL ANALYSESStatic and dynamic finite element analyses (FEA) using ANSYSDrop and impact (e.g., missile and aircraft) analyses and target response using LS-DYNASimulation of the seismic response of freestanding structures in air or submerged in waterStatic and dynamic analyses of large reinforced concrete or steel-concrete composite structuresSoil-structure interaction (SSI) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysesBeam and plate stress calculations using established principles of strength of materialsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSApplicant must possess a BS in

Mechanical/Civil/Structural

Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of experience. MS will count for 2 years of experience and Ph.D. will count for 4 years of experience (experience from MS and Ph.D. cannot be combined)Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ASCE, ACI and AISCMust possess excellent credentials in principles of solid mechanicsMust possess excellent technical writing and communication skillsDESIRED SKILLSIndustrial experience in the latest stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and STAAD.ProPrior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authoritiesExperience in seismic and stress analysis of pressure vessels and rotating equipmentExperience in modular design development of SSCsPowered by JazzHRCVzKisncZJ
