Partnership & Contracting:
In January 2026, Anglian Water awarded a significant technical contract to a consortium comprising TYPSA and Stantec. Supported by Acciona Agua, RSK-GHD JV, and Veolia, the collaboration focuses on leveraging advanced desalination technology and innovative design to meet future water demand challenges.
Scope & Technology:
These projects involve the design, site selection, and planning for advanced desalination plants that will utilise reverse osmosis to treat seawater from the North Sea. The development aims to meet stringent environmental standards, featuring processes such as pre-treatment, reverse osmosis, and remineralisation.
There is considerable investment in these projects, with approximately -149 million allocated for early development stages and total costs estimated in the billions of pounds. The projects are poised to become fully operational within the next decade, ensuring long-term sustainability and water security in the region.
