Functional Skills Tutor – NG21 (Nottinghamshire)

£25–£30 per hour | Part-time (Mon–Fri) | During school hours

TP Tutors is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor (FQT required) to support learners in the NG21 area of Nottinghamshire. This rewarding role focuses on 1:1 tuition, helping learners build the practical English and Maths skills they need for work, further education, and everyday life.

You’ll work closely with learners of different ages and abilities, many of whom benefit from personalised support outside of a traditional classroom environment. Through tailored sessions, you’ll help them develop confidence, strengthen core skills, and work towards recognised Functional Skills qualifications.

The Role

• Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills tuition in English and Maths

• Support learners working towards accredited Functional Skills qualifications

• Plan engaging, personalised lessons based on individual learning needs

• Build learner confidence, independence, and motivation

• Monitor progress and provide clear feedback and encouragement

Working Pattern

• Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

• Daytime hours (typically between 8:30am – 3:30pm)

• Sessions delivered in local community or education settings around NG21

What We’re Looking For

• Functional Skills qualification (FQT) – essential

• Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and Maths

• Strong knowledge of the Functional Skills curriculum and assessments

• Excellent communication and motivational skills

• Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit a range of learners

• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one and join the Update Service)
