NUVIA UK - Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with extensive practical knowledge of mechanical engineering within highly regulated industry sectors, particularly nuclear engineering. The role involves defining and managing the scope of work, ensuring project safety, timeliness, and quality, and delivering engineering solutions aligned with technical specifications.Key responsibilities include:Delivering mechanical engineering scope in accordance with technical specifications.Leading teams through the full project lifecycle: Specification, Design, Procurement, Supply/Manufacture Liaison, Installation, and Acceptance Testing.Participating in commissioning and operator training for nuclear projects.Producing and approving project deliverables and engineering documentation.Contributing to engineering and safety reviews.Ensuring quality and timely delivery of documentation across all project phases.Ensuring compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations.Developing cost-effective technical solutions.Staff development and safety management, fostering a strong safety culture.Managing contractors and providing technical consultancy.Qualifications and experience:Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.Experience in the nuclear industry is desirable but not essential if transferable skills are demonstrated.Proven track record in delivering mechanical solutions within highly regulated industries.Knowledge of plant layout, setup, installation, and alignment of equipment for testing, installation, and commissioning.Understanding of safety-led design requirements and regulatory compliance.Familiarity with industry safety legislation and statutory regulations.Knowledge of modern delivery practices such as BIM, RIBA/BSRIA design stage gates.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Good commercial awareness.Experience leading design teams and managing sub-contracts.Desirable qualifications include:Membership of a discipline-specific engineering institution.Full UK driving license.Experience in bid preparation.Understanding of Nuclear Industry Design Substantiation.About Nuvia:Nuvia, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction, operates in highly regulated sectors including Civil Nuclear, with a strong presence in the UK and internationally.
