Are you a specialist in building pathology with a background in trades like tiling or plastering? A leader in the FM and sustainability sector is bringing its Retrofit Assessment team in-house and is seeking a skilled professional for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC).
Based in Birmingham, this role offers the potential to go permanent as the department expands, providing a unique opportunity to shape the future of green energy projects in social housing.
The Role As a Retrofit Assessor, you will be the "eyes and ears" on-site, ensuring properties are accurately surveyed for energy-saving measures. You’ll:
- Conduct Technical Assessments: Carry out detailed retrofit assessments and EPCs in strict accordance with PAS 2035 guidelines.
- On-Site Inspections: Attend pre-identified residential addresses daily across the West Midlands to capture photographic evidence and identify building defects.
- Risk Identification: Use your trade knowledge to spot potential risks, including damp, mould, and building pathology concerns.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with Retrofit Coordinators, Designers, and Resident Liaison Officers to align assessments with the wider programme of works.
- Digital Lodgement: Upload accurate data and EPC lodgements into specific software platforms to support funded social housing schemes.
- Travel: This is a field-based role requiring daily travel in and around Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
- Required Certifications: Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualification, Level 3 in Domestic Retrofit Assessment, and Level 3 in Retrofitting Traditional Buildings.
- Legislation Knowledge: A strong understanding of PAS 2035 legislation and guidelines.
- Trade Background: Practical experience in building construction and identifying defects is essential.
- Communication: Ability to engage professionally with residents to book appointments and explain the assessment process.
- Compliance: A meticulous eye for detail to ensure all documentation supports PAS 2030/2035 lodgement.
- Driving: A full UK Driving Licence is required for daily travel.
