What you''ll do:
As Tax Manager, take ownership of all aspects of taxation within an organisation leading the way in carbon capture technology. Develop robust strategies that ensure compliance while maximising efficiency across diverse business operations.
Work closely with finance colleagues to prepare statutory accounts, manage audits related to taxation, and provide insightful advice on complex transactions such as mergers or restructurings.
Interpret evolving legislation to guide decision-makers through regulatory changes affecting domestic and international projects. Act as the central liaison for all tax matters with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.
Identify risks early and uncover opportunities for savings that support broader organisational goals, contributing to sustainability objectives within a highly regulated environment.
Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that align with business operations and long-term objectives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Oversee full compliance with UK tax laws, including those specific to carbon capture, energy, and regulated infrastructure sectors, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes.
Identify opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation across project financing, operational expenses, revenue recognition, and other key areas.
Prepare and submit accurate corporate tax returns, VAT filings, and all statutory submissions required by authorities.
Manage half-year and year-end audit processes related to taxation, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.
Advise senior management on tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, restructuring initiatives, or new business ventures.
Act as the main point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., HMRC, OFGEM, auditors, and industry bodies) regarding tax matters.
Monitor evolving tax legislation at national and international levels to assess potential impacts on operations.
Provide international tax advice for cross-border projects within the company''s portfolio.
Support budgeting and forecasting with detailed analysis of current and future tax liabilities.
What you bring:
Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (essential).
Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA; CTA would be advantageous for complex tax scenarios.
Significant experience in tax management within energy, oil and gas, carbon capture, or regulated infrastructure sectors (desirable).
Proven UK corporate tax compliance experience with strong planning skills.
Experience managing VAT and international tax matters.
Advanced skills with accounting software (e.g., SAP) and specialised tax reporting tools.
Strong analytical abilities and the capacity to interpret regulations and identify practical solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication, with ability to engage internal teams and external stakeholders including regulators.
Methodical and proactive approach with attention to detail under pressure.
Fluency in English (essential for international context).
