Advisory and Valuations - Energy, Infrastructure and Environment - Associate Director (4970)Forvis Mazars’ Energy, Infrastructure and Environment practice delivers a broad range of services to leading investors and developers. The Infrastructure Finance business unit provides modelling, model audit, valuations, training and advisory services to clients across EMEA and the Americas from hubs in London, Paris, New York, Toronto, Johannesburg and Delhi.Job PurposeTo support Partners and Directors in expanding the Advisory and Valuations service lines by delivering high-quality service across a range of clients in the energy and infrastructure sector, including acquisitions, valuations, sales, fundraisings, bid advisory and debt raisings.The role could be at Associate Director or Manager level depending on experience. At the AD level, expectations include more autonomous client relationships, greater business development responsibilities and leadership within the team.What we are looking forLead advisory and valuation assignments with proactive project management and strategic direction to a broader team of sector specialists. Time split is typically 50:50 between advisory and valuations, subject to client requirements.Excellent client relationship skills with a commitment to first-rate client service and an interest in understanding the client’s business and assets.Strong PowerPoint and report-writing skills, with natural intellectual curiosity.Ability to interpret, sense-check and run Excel-based financial models with 3-way financial statements.Commitment to business development as well as project execution.Significant experience in the energy and infrastructure sector.Professional ResponsibilitiesProject DeliveryManage the delivery of advisory engagements, including:Prepare transaction documentation – business plans, information memoranda and financial models.Research and approach potential buyers/sellers for clients.Lead day-to-day management of assignments with multiple engagements.Project manage larger transactions and smaller ones end-to-end.Build strong client relationships and respond promptly to requests.Provide clear tactical advice on complex transactions under supervision.Maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines.Ensure billing according to agreed plans and adherence to Mazars’ quality and risk procedures.Manage budgets and financials on engagements.Valuation EngagementsProduce project plans and coordinate team members to deliver them.Analyse information to identify key valuation issues and reflect them in conclusions.Review market evidence and gather informal market feedback.Analyse financial models, run sensitivities correctly, and review valuations.Prepare and/or review valuation reports; manage financials, billing and collections; report progress to Director/Partner.Ensure adherence to Mazars’ quality and risk procedures.Develop client relationships and lead, coach and review junior valuation staff.People and Product DevelopmentDevelop client deliverables and team capabilities with sector insight and commercial understanding.Mentor junior team members through coaching and development.Review work and provide informal feedback during fieldwork.Ensure outputs are visually clear and effective.Build market relationships and knowledge to keep valuations up to date with market insights.Promote a culture of learning and development; potential line management responsibilities in London, Delhi and Pune.Business Development and Broader Team EngagementDevelop market intelligence and sector knowledge for new deal opportunities and pitches.Lead proposal documents for opportunities and help convert them.Build and maintain external networks with clients and market participants.Support marketing activities and raise personal market profile.Build internal networks within Forvis Mazars (UK and internationally) to maximise client value and opportunities for the firm.Collaborate with Transaction Services, Tax and other advisory teams to offer integrated deal advisory.Promote Forvis Mazars energy and infrastructure sector knowledge internally and externally.Key RequirementsSeveral years of experience in deal advisory and valuation in the energy and infrastructure sector (6+ years for Manager; 8+ years for Associate Director).Strong track record in the energy and infrastructure sector through MandA or financing transactions.Good understanding of industry trends and key players.Proven project management skills and ability to meet demanding timelines.Strong financial modelling capabilities and knowledge of standard valuation techniques in the sector.Track record of building enduring client relationships through repeat work.Ability to interpret results, identify issues and apply commercial acumen.Proactive, confident team player with ability to build relationships at all levels.Ability to develop self and others; experience in managing junior staff (Manager level).Understanding of engagement and risk processes in an accountancy context; experience applying them.Accounting/finance qualifications (e.g., ACA or CFA) desirable but not essential.Fluency in English is mandatory; second European language desirable.Self-motivated, ambitious and hard-working with a client-service mindset and teamwork ethos.Excellent written and oral presentation skills and MS Office proficiency.About Forvis MazarsForvis Mazars is a leading global professional services network operating under a single brand in over 100 countries.
