Abatec are proud to be partnered with a strategic civil engineering contractor on site at Devonport Dockyard who have secured a -43m contract to deliver a high specification jetty. Our client requires an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team based on site in Plymouth.

With an impressive -260m turnover our client is well-positioned to support complex, major infrastructure and marine engineering projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-value, complex works within a secure environment, supporting national defence infrastructure.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:

• Lead all commercial and contractual activities across the jetty delivery package
• Preparation, submission, and negotiation of interim applications and final accounts
• Procurement and management of subcontract packages
• Provide accurate project forecasting, cost/value reconciliations and cash flow management
• Support contract administration under NEC4 contracts
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks in collaboration with delivery teams
• Provide commercial input during progress meetings and client reviews
• Ensure compliance with project controls and internal governance
• Mentor and support junior commercial staff as appropriate

Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with:

• Proven track record working on civils, marine or infrastructure projects
• Minimum 5+ years post-qualification experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS role
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial management of works packages
• Prior exposure to projects within secure or COMAH-regulated environments (desirable)
• Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering
• Proficient in cost reporting tools and Microsoft Excel

Salary and benefits include:

• -60,000 - -65,000 per annum
