to help modernise our database estate and lead high-impact migrations from Oracle to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings deep technical expertise, and enjoys collaborating across architecture, development, and DevOps teams. Manage and optimise PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon Aurora, ensuring performance, scalability, and resilienceSupport the migration of mission-critical Oracle workloads to Aurora PostgreSQL, applying best practices for performance and reliabilityWork across multi-engine environments including Oracle (on-prem Exadata and AWS RDS), MySQL, MariaDB, and SQL Server within AWSDesign and implement schemas, partitioning strategies, indexing, and replication for high-throughput systemsEnforce security standards aligned with PCI DSS and regulatory frameworks user management, encryption, auditingEnsure availability and recovery through robust backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and HA configurationsDeploy monitoring and diagnostics using advanced tooling to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in real timeCollaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, developers, and architects to align database infrastructure with business goalsWhat You Bring

Essential SkillsProven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments (Aurora PostgreSQL preferred)Strong track record of migrating Oracle workloads to PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and schema redesignDeep understanding of PostgreSQL internals MVCC, vacuuming, replication, clustering, indexingExpertise in query optimisation, performance tuning, and troubleshootingHands-on experience with AWS services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAMSolid grasp of database security principles and compliance frameworksExperience implementing robust backup and recovery strategiesDesirable Extras
