Care Home Chef - No Michelin Stars, Just Big Hearts and Great Grub!Position: Care and Nursing Home Chefs and Cooks

Location: Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

Rate: £16-£18 per hour

We''re looking for relief chefs to support care home kitchens throughout Nottingham, bringing flavor and ensuring mealtimes are comforting, calm, and delicious.

The Role

Cooking tasty, nutritious meals including a variety of diets such as texture diets, blended meals, and modified meals.

Catering for dietary needs under the IDDSI framework.

Keeping the kitchen tidy and operational.

Working solo or with a small team, depending on the home.

Managing stock and deliveries.

Food ordering, depending on your role (e.g., head chef/chef manager).

Food preparation.

Supporting with pot washing and assisting kitchen staff if needed.

Adhering to health and safety regulations.

Cooking nutritious food within specified requirements.

Maintaining a clean-as-you-go policy.

Possibly serving food.

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience as a chef in care or nursing homes.

Understanding of pureed meals and their impact on residents.

Experience with the IDDSI framework for texture diets.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or higher (or willingness to obtain one).

Food Allergen Certificate.

Friendly, calm, and passionate about creating good home-cooked meals.

Reliable and proactive attitude.

Availability for temporary/relief shifts, including weekends and same-day ad hoc shifts.

Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (due to location requirements).

Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months or on the update service.
