Supervising Social Worker (SSW) within the Fostering sector required in Basildon, Essex. This is a full time opportunity, offering an immediate start.

You will be responsible for the recruitment, assessment, supervision and development of your team within the fostering sector.

Main duties & responsibilities:

• Regular supervision visits
• Maintenance of full recording of contacts and visits
• To advise and liaise with your team
• Take account of cultural, ethnic, linguistic backgrounds and religious persuasions
• Attend statutory reviews 
• Ensure that statutory Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards are adhered to
• Attend team meetings

Ideally we are looking for a candidate with the relevant professional qualification in social work - CQSW, CSS, DipSW, BA  in Social Work, together with valid Social Work England registration plus at least two years post qualification experience.

You will need to have:

• An understanding of fostering and the needs of looked after children
• Knowledge of child care legislation
• Sound knowledge of fostering legislation and practice
• A good knowledge of child protection and safeguarding

Due to the nature of this opportunity, out of hours and a on-call rota will be necessary.
