Senior Social Worker
Role: Senior Social Work PractitionerService: Children and FamiliesReports to: Team ManagerLevel: Senior practitioner with leadership and supervisory responsibilitiesPurpose of the RoleHandle complex social work cases involving children and familiesSupport the development and effectiveness of the serviceProvide guidance, supervision, and mentoring to other staff and studentsKey ResponsibilitiesManage high-risk and complex cases (including child protection and court work)Develop and implement child in need / child protection plansPrepare court reports and give evidence when requiredOffer professional advice and consultation to colleaguesSupervise junior staff and studentsContribute to team development, training, and service improvementParticipate in recruitment, meetings, and organisational initiativesEnsure health and safety and communication systems are followedQualifications and ExperienceRecognised Social Work qualification (e.g. BA Social Work or equivalent)Professional registration (e.g. HCPC or equivalent body)Experience in:Children and families social workChild protection and court workAssessment and duty systemsExperience supervising or mentoring staff (desirable)
