Senior or Principal - Groundwater EIA role at WSP. Flexible UK location with hybrid work arrangements. Applications for part-time positions welcomed.What you will do

Play a leading role in project delivery, interfacing with clients and internal stakeholders. Senior team members review inputs and finalise documents to meet client requirements.Collaborate with Sustainable Water Management and Earth and Environment teams to develop business opportunities and prepare proposals, with Senior grades growing into this role.Manage or direct projects, balancing programme, budget and quality, while adhering to health and safety standards. Senior grades are supported by more experienced colleagues for complex projects.Provide technical guidance, training and support to junior colleagues.Contribute to growing WSP’s technical capability and innovation to develop new services for clients.Role focus

Your work will primarily involve EIA and WFD assessments and related groundwater investigations for major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas. The role is varied, with responsibilities spanning technical delivery, management and commercial aspects in line with experience. You will also mentor others in the team.Qualifications and experience

A degree in a relevant environmental, geographical, science or engineering discipline is essential.Experience in groundwater and wider water EIA, including groundwater site investigation, hydrogeological assessments, water supply and conservation site risk assessments, and WFD assessments, ideally in consultancy.Track record of leading or major contribution to technical inputs for planning and permitting for major infrastructure projects, including groundwater EIA, WFD and related studies for planning applications and environmental permits. Some surface water or peatland experience is useful.Understanding of the WFD and its application for UK water environment management.Knowledge of the regulatory context for planning and EIA in the UK; for Principal or Associate grade, experience with the Development Consent Order regime is preferred.Practical project management experience, including budgets and teams, with ability to manage challenging projects.Skills / Experience

Demonstrated experience in groundwater and wider water EIA with consultancy experience.Ability to lead or contribute to technical inputs and team delivery for major infrastructure projects.Strong understanding of UK planning, EIA regulations and WFD.Chartered status with LGS and/or CIWEM for Principal positions; working towards Chartered status for Senior positions.Seniority and employment details
