Working arrangementsPlease note this role does offer hybrid working, our model sets out a minimum 60% onsite / 40% home working split.OverviewThe Commercial team supports the business to optimise our relationships with partners, collaborators and customers whilst protecting Tokamak Energy’s interests and securing the business’s future success.

As the Contracts and Commercial Manager you will play a crucial role in drafting and negotiating agreements across the breadth of business activities, which may range from securing funding opportunities to providing services to customers. Within this varied role, you will also help shape the company contracting strategy and procedures to enable efficient and consistent solutions to complex contracting scenarios. You will be closely involved with a number of projects from an early stage to facilitate understanding of the primary business objectives and to help to shape our third party relationships through a commercial and contractual lens. You will aid in ensuing ongoing compliance with existing contracts by providing support to a variety of teams.This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of Tokamak Energy and the wider clean energy sector.In this role, you will:Draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including MOUs, Collaboration Agreements, Sales Agreements, Purchasing Agreements, and Research AgreementsNegotiate bespoke agreements for strategic opportunitiesDevelop a detailed understanding of the business, using this to efficiently and effectively negotiate contractsUse knowledge of law to develop pragmatic and creative solutions balancing risk, resource, and deliveryEngage stakeholders across the businesses at the appropriate level, building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple individuals and teamsWork with teams across the business to prioritize, set expectations and manage demandAssist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and ways of works relating to contractingAssist in the evolution of our template contractsContribute to training on contracts both across the company and within the teamOpportunities to take on line management responsibilities based on performance and skills setRequirementsRelevant degree or qualification within legal discipline, or equivalent experienceDetailed understand of contract law, with complementary knowledge in other fieldsDemonstratable experience in application of law to business scenarios and developing commercially focused solutionsExperience negotiating across a diverse range of contractsAdvanced skills in legal research and application of research to complex scenariosExcellent attention to detail and analysis skillsHighly organised with extensive experience independently prioritising and driving delivery to deadlinesAbility to work independently and as part of a team in an agile settingProactive attitude and a drive to excelGood understanding of, and experience with agreements with a heavy emphasis on intellectual property rights is desirableExperience in a rapidly evolving company or on pre-commercialisation projects is desirableSalary dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset28 days (inclusive of festive break) holiday plus bank holidaysEligible for discretionary performance related bonusShare options schemePension schemeFinancial benefits – including; group life insurance, critical illness, health cash plan and discount schemeInnovation and Merit bonusesInvestment in training and development to support career progressionOpportunity to work on and contribute to world class innovationCompany backgroundWhat if there was a limitless, safe, clean, low-cost energy source, providing much needed global energy security?
